SAN LEANDRO, Calif. (AP) – The Fourth Annual California Gator Golf Tournament was played on Saturday, August 17th, at Monarch Bay Golf Course par 71, 7,015 yards in length (the second longest in California). The tournament was a huge success and a new foursome led by Tournament Co-Captain, Marty Duda, emerged to claim this years coveted Gator Golf title – catapulting his foursome from Worst in 2001 to First in 2002 with a tournament winning score of 62 for the round. "This is something you dream about," said Duda, "a Gator, Hurricane, Wildcat and Badger all coming together as a team to win this tournament, it means everything to me."

The purpose of the tournament was to have fun with fellow Gators and Gator Supporters (which everyone did) and to raise funds to help offset expenses for the South Bay Swamp specifically, the cost of the pay-per-view football games. Thank you to all those who participated in this years event and special thanks to our tournament Co-Captains for volunteering their time to organize the Gator Golf tournament for a second consecutive year and to Monarch Bay for their reptile tolerance.
