5th Annual California Gator Golf Tournament, 2003

Gators vs Huskers

Gator Golfers Defend Title at Poppy Ridge
Livermore, California – The Fifth Annual California Gator Golf Tournament was played on Saturday, August 23rd, at Poppy Ridge Golf Course.  This year the field was broadened to include the Nebraska Bay Area Huskers who came out in mass to challenge the Gators in their bid to win the coveted title.  It was beautiful sunny day with very little wind.

Would Marty Duda’s foursome who wrote 2002's Cinderella story at Monarch Bay top last year's unprecedented win?  The pressure to defend the title proved to be the catalyst the team needed for their second consecutive win with a winning score of 61 for the round.  "Tee to green, that's probably the best golf we've ever played," Duda said.  “Everyone did exactly what they needed to do throughout the round.  We played well as a team and it paid off.”

Thank you to all those who participated in this years event and special thanks to the tournament Co-Tournament Directors,  Kristine Stewart and Steve "Gator" Wood for volunteering their time to organize the tournament this year, and to Poppy Ridge Golf Course.
