6th Annual California Gator Golf Tournament, 2004

Gators vs Huskers

Lean, Mean, Big Red Machine Foursome Overwhelms Field

Livermore, California – The Sixth Annual California Gator Golf Tournament was played on Saturday, August 28, 2004, at Poppy Ridge Golf Course.  This year the field included not only the Nebraska Bay Area Huskers, but also a foursome of Vanderbilt Commodores to challenge the Gators in their bid to win the coveted title.  The tournament was played for the second year in a row at Poppy Ridge and once again it was beautiful sunny day with very little wind.

The Marty Duda Gator foursome was primed to defend their two year Championship title.  The three-peat did not materialize due to a devastating foursome of young, lean, mean long driving and sure putting Huskers. Lead by Brady Bock,  who was the foursomes MVP and took home a "Closest to the Pin" award, the Huskers tamed the challenging Poppy Ridge course and beat the second place foursome by 7 stokes!  The winning foursome ended up 18 under and were ready to play another 18 holes.  The Big Red Went!

Thank you to all those who participated in this years event and special thanks to the tournament Co-Tournament Directors,  Kristine Stewart and Steve "Gator" Wood for volunteering their time to organize the tournament this year, and to Poppy Ridge Golf Course.
