Crystal Springs Golf Course

The Eighth Annual California Gator Golf Tournament and first Best Bay Area Swamp Challenge will be played this year at Crystal Springs Golf Course in Burlingame on Sunday, August 27, 2006. This year the tournament will be ALL Gators (and guests) and will include participants from ALL San Francisco Bay Area Gator Club® Swamps - South Bay, San Francisco and East Bay. The purpose of the tournament first and foremost is to have fun, meet fellow alumnae and Gator Supporters, and to raise funds to help offset club expenses.
Best Bay Area Swamp Challenge - A new title will go to the San Francisco Bay Area Gator Club® Swamp with largest number of participants, so please encourage your golf buddies to play in this event. Singles, doubles, triples or foursomes are welcome – it is not necessary to enter with a foursome. Who will win the coveted 2006 Gator Golf Title? In which club Swamp lies the winning team?

You’ll quickly find that most players who have never been here before have yearned for years to play at Crystal Springs. Every time they drive down I-280 and spot the reservoir in the distance, they’ve wanted to pull over and get their clubs out of the trunk. And the ones who have shared 18 with us want to come back again and again. Distance, slope and rating: Championship tees, 6,628 yards (124/72.2); Middle tees, 6,212 yards (122/70.1); Forward tees, 5,580 yards (126/72.3)
The first tee off time is at 10:00AM on Sunday, August 27. If you have a need to tee off at a certain time please let us know. Also, all tournament participants scheduled to play are required to check in at the Pro Shop.
Dress Code: Absolutely NO blue jeans and shirts must have a collar. Shorts (excluding denim) must have an inseam of at least four (4) inches.
Tournament Format: Scramble
Each player in the foursome hits off the tee. The players decide which is the best ball to play and all players make their next shot from that spot (players pick up the balls not being used). This process continues for each shot (including putts) until the ball is in the hole. Each foursome must use at least 3 tee shots of each player during the round.

Mulligans: Can be purchased at 3 for $10.00. In order to keep the round on a reasonable time line mulligans will be limited to 3 per player. Mulligans will only be made available for sale prior to playing the round.

Pairings and Tee Times: Please plan on arriving at the course early. Our first tee time is at 10:00AM on Sunday, August 27. As a courtesy to everyone involved in the Tournament please make every effort to be on time. There are practice facilities available at the Golf Course to get the kinks out of your swing in advance of your tee time and please buy your Mulligans BEFORE you tee off.

Mulligans: Can be used for a “do over” for any shot or putt.
General Rules:
- Men will play the “white” tees. Women will play the “Red” tees.
- Keep pace of play moving quickly. Stay up with the foursome in front of you.
- "Longest Drive" contest is for men and women. To be considered for the contest, the player’s first drive must come to rest in the fairway.
- For the two "Closest to the Pin" contests men and women compete together. To be considered, the player’s first tee shot must come to rest on the green.
- Rules: The tournament will be governed by USGA rules.
Scorecards
- Use official scorecards.
- Record the gross score for the team on each hole.
- Enter your score on the posted Tournament Score Card. Also, select and post your team MVP.
Winning
- The foursome with the lowest net score will be the winner.
- Tiebreaker will be decided by the better net score on the last nine holes.

Third Title a Charm in 2006
Burlingame, Calif. (AP) – The Eighth Annual California Gator Golf Tournament was played on Sunday, August 27th, at Crystal Springs Golf Course (6,628 yards, par-72). The purpose of the tournament was to have fun with fellow Gators and Gator Supporters and to raise funds to help offset expenses for the three San Francisco Bay Area Alumni Clubs. The “Best Bay Area Swamp” title went to the South Bay who had the largest number of participants playing in the tournament. Tournament Captain, Marty Duda’s foursome closed with an 8-under 64 to win.
