Hole In One at the 2007 Gator Golf Tournament! Palo Alto, Calif. – The Ninth Annual California Gator Golf Tournament hosted by the San Francisco Bay Area Gator Club® (SFGC) was played on Sunday, August 26th, at Palo Alto Golf Course on a wonderful 80 degree sunny day. The purpose of the tournament was to have fun with fellow Gators and Gator fans, and to raise funds for the SFGC’s scholarship initiatives of supporting a $2,500 Florida Opportunity Scholarship and a $30,000 Gator Nation West of the Mississippi Scholarship Endowment over five years. More that $700 was generated for the scholarship funds and a great time was had by all! The highlight of the tournament was Gator Chris “ACE” Binns’ hole-in-one on the 153 year 8th hole. Chris’ hole-in-one helped his foursome including club president Dan Hunt, Joe Dixon, and Jesse Pizelo win the tournament at 9 under par. The defending champion, and three-time champions since 2002, Duda Foursome of Marty “Gator” and Reggie “CAT 5” Duda, Stefan “Wildcat” Myslicki, Lee “Badger” Hedtke, also posted an outstanding 9 under par. To determine the winner a series of complicated tie breakers were used. Each member of the winning foursome received a $25 credit at the pro shop and bragging rights for one year! The Swamp Masters Foursome of Steve “Swamp Master” Wood, Bill Deputy Swamp Master Denty, Joe “SwampDisasterMaster” Churchill and Jim “SwampDisasterMaster Bro” Churchill posted a 4 under par for third place. In fouthr place the Andrea Polites, Jim Stavosky, JR Munini and Rob Worley posted a 3 under par, and the Qiuyue Dan, Bill Norwalk, Gary Price, and Javier Martell foursome shot a 2 under par. Each foursome selected a MVP who was given a Gator magnet. The MVP’s were: Chris “ACR” Binns, Lee “Badger” Hedtke, Steve “Swamp Master” Wood (who’s back is sore from carrying his foursome), Andrea Polites and Gary Price. Skill prize winners were a mix of new and past winners. JR Munini was a new winner by winning the closest to the pin contest. Lee “Badger” Hedtke once again won the Gator Longest Drive, as did Reggie “CAT 5” Duda for the Lady Gator Longest Drive. Since the all time “Most Obnoxiously Dressed Gator Golfer” champion Don Gundry was unable to participate Steve “Swamp Master” Wood with a plush Gator head logo hat crawled away with the title. (Don still received a large number of votes! Go Don!) Special thanks to Carla Blalock, SFGC President Elect, for supporting the tournament by checking in Gators and taking pictures. Thanks to Chris Binns for donating a Chris D’Marco Gator Club Head Cover and Stefan “Wildcat” Myslicki for donating “National Chompionship” Gator logo golf balls as prizes.
